Slacker

Wow okay yes it has almost been a full year since I last blogged! I am SUCH a slacker heh.
Its been a very busy year...last I blogged we were living in a rental in Mira Mesa which we HATED! In March of 07 we actually bought our first home up in the hills of San Marcos.
We love our new home and I cant believe it has almost been a year since we moved in.
I took a few days to painting the bedrooms so we could move in and not have to deal with moving
the furniture around before painting. The My MIL Jackie, helped me paint the kitchen and living room. We then moved in a couple days later.
I have also started a garden..I have Tomatoes, Oranges, Strawberries and a few essential herbs and various flowers. I have always liked the idea of a garden...a small garden and I am liking the benefits of a fruitful garden!
I have met most of the neighbors, at least all of the ones that live next to me or around me..one neighbor in particular I have gotten to know very well. Her name is Michele, She lives with her boyfriend of a few years Shaun. Both very nice people. I walk her dogs Benji and Sandy in return they make me or take me out for dinner once a week while Chris is at Karate or Game night with the guys.

In August Juliet came to stay with us for a couple days and she brought along little Jax
it was fun having her over and Jaxon was just a doll. It was funny to see the cats reaction to
a baby in the house. Toby and Dolly knew better and hide most of the time while poor pierre submitted himself to the all ear and tale grabbing without complaints. While they were here we
went to the Del Mar Races and chili cook off..that was fun..Jaxon seemed to like all the horses.
Unfortunately their stay was short but sweet. I miss them so much:-(

We once again spent Thanksgiving in Arizona with my family and had a wonderful time..its always hard to say goodbye to those you love and miss.
Christmas was at our house this year and Chris made a fabulous roast beast dinner..there were rave reviews! hehe
We also bought a HUGE Christmas tree...it was beautiful and smelled so good.

We spent New years Eve with Shaun and Michele..we had Crab legs and mimosa's YUM!
My first experience with crab legs mind you so it was interesting to say the least!

I believe that is all the news for now..I will try to keep this updated more often.

Busy couple of months...

This time I have a lot to write about because it's been a while since I last blogged and a lot has happened. Pretty much as soon as I came home from Arizona, my husband, his parents and myself all flew up to Washington for Christmas. I met all of his grandparents for the first time along with a lot of other relatives. We spent Christmas day at Chris's uncle's house and spent most of the day playing the Wii. We all had fun and I am now addicted to playing the Wii!

New Year's Eve was uneventful. Chris and I stayed home and watched TV. We had plans but they fell through and we didn't have time to make any new ones so we had a relaxing night alone. We went to Chris's parents house for New Year's Day and had a wonderful meal that his mom had prepared for us all.

Which brings us into January... Now some months back Chris and I had decided that in January we were going to start our house hunt, figuring it would take us a few months to find one and, by time all the papers were signed and escrow would close, it would be close to the end of our lease (May 31st). Well, during the first part of January I looked at homes online and such then, towards the end of January, I met with a real estate agent and started looking at homes. Within a week—yes, one week!—we had found our perfect home. We snatched it up really quickly, as it was the last one on builder's lot not yet sold. So Chris and I have bought our very first home. Who knew it would only take a week? We are both very excited and I am now having fun and keeping busy picking out paint and flooring.

The next couple of months will probably keep us very busy packing and moving, but I will try to keep you all posted!

Until then...

Happy February!

Little Miracle

Ah, it's good to be home again. I just spent the last three weeks away from home, Chris, my kitties, and all the usual stuff I take for granted. But, I also have to say that I had a wonderful time in Prescott visiting my family and friends. Chris and I have made a tradition of going to Arizona for Thanksgiving every year and unfortunately Chris was feeling under the weather and was unable to come with me this year.

Luckily, I was able to hitch a last-minute ride with my sister, Stefanie, so I could visit with my dad and grandparents. The main reason I had to be there was for my best friend Juliet, who was awaiting an arrival from the stork. After many, many long walks and every trick in the book to get labor started, she finally went into labor on Friday, December 1st—just two weeks into my visit. Finally, after more than 25 hours of agonizing labor, Jaxon Kayo Lane made his arrival into the world on Saturday night, December 2nd. Weighing in at 7 lb. 6 oz. he was a perfect bundle of joy.

Being in the delivery room with Juliet during both labor and the birth of Jaxon, holding her hand the whole way through is something I will never forget. It was truly an amazing experience for me.

I am back home now for the time being but will shortly be taking off again. Chris and I will be joining his parents to go up to Washington for Christmas. I am looking forward to this very much as I have yet to meet his grandmother who lives up in Snohomish, Washington, where we will be staying. It is looking like it is going to be a very interesting and wonderful Christmas this year.

Long time

Hm well it has been a long time since I wrote anything here, probably because I don't have a whole lot to report.
Lets see... Last time I wrote we were moving into a new place. Three months later we are finally moved in completely. In January we will probably be looking again for a new place. Chris and I really don't like Mira Mesa. I think we will be looking in the south side of Carlsbad. Closer to Chris's commute for Karate every Tuesday night.

I went to Arizona in the beginning of August to see my family and best friend. I always enjoy my visits there I really miss all my friends and family there. Chris and I will be going back to
Arizona for our annual Thanksgiving trip. My best friend found out in April she is going to be having a baby so I will be going back to Arizona alone for the birth sometime in Nov or Dec. I am really excited about it. While I was there in August we went to see the ultrasound. It was very cool.

So last week Chris and I were driving up to Orange County to see one of his Kiado Ryu Karate (http://www.kiado-ryu.com/) classmates get his Black Belt.
Unfortunatley we missed the first half because on our way up to OC there was a HUGE truck fire and we were stuck there for 3 hours before letting us go through Camp Pendelton. We got to see the last hour of the test and it was VERY cool. I really enjoyed it.

So that is all for now...
HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Good News

As of June 1st we are officially renters. We finally found a place in the Sorrento Valley/Mira Mesa area. We can even keep all of our kitties with us! We will slowly be moving in over the next couple of weeks.

This weekend was a nice break in the hectic schedule of this thing we call life. Took a break from all the thinking that goes into moving to a new place and took a trip to Las Vegas. It was fun but probably not something we will do again in the near future. It was VERY warm, and humid, surprisingly enough.

The week before was nice as well. Chris's Mom came to town to celebrate the graduation of a family friend and stayed for a week. I always enjoy when Jackie comes to town. It gives me someone with whom to have stimulating conversations. Staying home with three cats just doesn't do it for me anymore. Meanwhile I have decided to take up a new hobby. Learning Perl. God help me!

That is all for now.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, Passover, and any other holiday you might be celebrating. Chris and I had a nice Easter Sunday. We headed over to the Wild Animal Park this morning to view their orchid and butterfly displays they have every year. It was really very pretty! Thousands of butterflies that flutter around you, and perhaps even land on you. The orchids were lovely, too. They had this one orchid that smelled like chocolate! Yummm.

For Easter dinner we made spiral-cut ham with a glaze, garlic mashed potatoes and crescent rolls. Quite a lot of food for only two people, but Easter comes only once a year. :-)

I hope you all are having a lovely day!

Spring Showers...

This year is going by so fast. I can't believe it is already April! All I can say is, all of these April (March... February...) showers had better bring with them a lot of May flowers. The hills around here are very green and pretty already. Along with the spring showers, we also have spring cleaning. Over the weekend I cleaned the patio and Chris and I cleaned the master closet. Now my side of the closet looks so empty, which means I need to go out and get some new clothes for the warmer weather.

I am looking forward to the weekend of April 22nd. I will be taking a women's self defense class with Chris and his karate instructor, Mr. King, up in Orange County. It should be fun and interesting. Maybe then I will feel more comfortable being home alone most of the time.

We have officially decided to put the house buying on the back burner, for now, in hopes that the San Diego housing market will come down a bit more. Which means we will be renting for a while to allow us to save up for a larger down payment. Well, since this weekend is supposed to be rainy and also it will be Easter weekend, the rental searching will probably be pushed back.

Well, that's the update for now...
